Welcome to The Courtyard – Yale Law School’s new online community – designed to facilitate connections between our students and alumni. We hope this virtual meeting space will inspire the type of meaningful interactions that take place in the actual courtyard and throughout Yale Law School. As a member of The Courtyard, you will be able to explore the community of active alumni members, along with the online directory that includes the broader community of YLS alumni. You can engage with the community making connections through direct outreach to active alumni members.
As an alumni member, you will be able to serve as a resource or mentor to students and other alumni, as well as access the YLS network for your own professional growth. Through mentoring, you not only will help members of the YLS community, but you will also help yourself. You will build your own coaching and leadership skills, and gain new perspectives and fresh ideas, including insight into the next generation of lawyers. By expressing a willingness to serve as a mentor in your profile, current YLS students and alumni members of the community will be able to view your profile and reach out to you through the platform with targeted, discrete, and specific inquiries.
Please use The Courtyard with care. Do not use the platform for solicitation, political, commercial, or hiring purposes. If your organization is hiring, please connect with the Career Development Office to learn about opportunities to recruit YLS students and alumni (though you may choose to share alumni volunteer opportunities on The Courtyard). If you use the platform to seek mentoring from alumni regarding your own career goals, your outreach should be for information-gathering purposes, and not job seeking. Be considerate about the number of mentors you contact to preserve the opportunity for other alumni and students to access alumni resources as well.
